Capitalism’s Fault?

When people encounter problems, the first thing they do is find some one or something to blame. In a recent article by M. Shahid Alam, he voices the reason many people think is the reason for the lower class or the "under privileged" which is the oppression of capitalism. In his article by victimizing people who struggle economially he makes the institution of capitalism and free trade look like the bad guy. It may seem this way but there are a few problems and issues he did not address in his proposals.

Alam claims that capitalism it self, is the sole problem. However, this is not entirely accurate, it would be better stated that capitalism causes, and gives the liberty for the power hungry rich to take advantage of the little guy. Most people will do what ever it takes to get ahead even at the expense of other people. So instead of pointing to one of the affects of capitalism, the root of the problem should be considered which is the corruption of human nature.

Something else that was not considered is the number of people who run these corrupt institutions actually have the power to keep people from advancing. I would venture to say that there are only a hand full of people that Alam describes as the "private capital" sector of the human population. People who make more money than the average American, are almost always considered to have obtained their wealth by running over people and contrivers. Could it be possible that these people actually earned what they have? That they actually worked hard to be in their position? Yes, there is plenty of corruption in these billion dollar institutions but I think its possible that they are out numbered by the people that make above average income and actually earned it.

  1. The review written by Winston was well done and some very good points were made, I would like to expand upon those points. True those that control the wealth in America are only one percent of the population. Some of those inherited wealth from relatives and some built theirs through hard work. Those people who believe there is a conspiracy to keep all the wealth in the hands of a few are really not motivated and as stated in the opening paragraph of Winston’s review are just looking for someone to blame.
Winston fail to mention possible solutions to this problem of the under privileged, I help out and add a couple which hopefully will benefit his users. First thing get off your butts and quit watching those that have and thinking, “Wish I had that” get motivated. Look at Michael Dell’s and others stories these dreams didn’t fall in their laps they had and idea and ran with it, there’s not a reason that anyone who is motivated and can stay focused on their goal can not do the same. The second thing is the stock market, invest your money let it grow without breaking your back to do it. Most people look at the stock market and make it so complicated that they never actually try it. Read a few short books take a few dollars and jump in, this is the best time for all of us that want to invest, all the stock are a bargain. So quit your excuses and get going toward making your own wealth.

  2. I would like to compliment you on your blog. It is very well thought out and well written in its' entirety.
My comment is for the train of thought about what other people think. It is true that the rich generally get where they are at by running over people, maybe not in the literal sense but in the philosophical sense. People are surpassed by others in all aspects of life, some people handle their station in life with grace and others not so much. Too me, as long as you know that in your soul you are righteous, then the worries of what others will think is irrelevant. And you will be blessed. Good luck to you.
